Our Story

From a small gathering in a home in 2010 to our own building today, the story of Immanuel Myanmar Church is a beautiful testimony of God’s grace, faithfulness, and unstoppable love. What began with just a handful of believers has grown into a thriving spiritual family—by His power alone.

Our Journey

A Story of God’s Faithfulness

On January 17, 2010, a Sunday, Pastor Rev. Manar Chai and his wife, Hlu Naing, along with a small group of believers, stepped out in faith to start Immanuel Myanmar Church. The very first worship service took place in the living room of U Myo Myint Aung in Glen Ellyn. Though only a handful gathered that day, God’s grace and gentle guidance began to move—turning a simple gathering into a growing spiritual family.

Trusting God Through Every Change

Over the years, we faced multiple moves, each one a step of faith. In 2014, Wheaton Evangelical Free Church became Compass Church, but God’s mercy allowed us to continue worshiping there. In 2018, when space became limited, we prayed earnestly and trusted God’s leading. With the help of Durmomo Gery, we began worshiping at Wheaton First Presbyterian Church on September 2, 2018—a transition that strengthened our faith and became a key milestone in our story.

God’s Miraculous Provision

In 2018, the church family united in prayer and began planning for our own building. After five years of faithful saving, generous giving, and persistent prayer, God opened the way. In December 2021, we joyfully purchased our current permanent home at 1713 Howard Street, Saint Charles, Illinois 60174. This achievement is a powerful testimony to the strength of united prayer, sacrificial giving, and God’s perfect timing.

Growth, Mission, and Ministry

our

Over the past 15+ years, God has blessed us in amazing ways:

  • Hundreds have been baptized through our ministry

  • Regular Bible studies, evangelism training, and Gospel preaching continue to bear fruit

  • Pastor Manar Chai has traveled to other states, leading hundreds more to baptism

  • We send annual support to suffering areas in Myanmar

  • Ongoing mission work in Dala Township, Yangon, where the Gospel is shared regularly

We place special importance on the next generation:

  • Sunday School introduces children to Jesus—many have accepted Christ and been baptized

  • Youth programs, summer Bible camps, and mission trips help young people grow strong in faith and identity in Christ
